Taunt Battleworld was a web3, NFT-based fighting game similar to the Mortal Kombat franchise. The difference is that players own their fighters, which were dropped as ERC 1155 tokens on the Polygon mainnet in 2021.
Supporting many play-to-earn primitives, the game ushered in engage-to-earn and watch-to-earn models where viewers could participate in the live game streams via tokenized gameplay. The TAUNT token provided the backbone for transactions between stakeholders in the ecosystem including players and viewers.
In addition, a 24x7, live tournament engine was developed to broadcast tournaments from cloud servers running Unity to streaming platforms such as Twitch. The game supported web2 and web3 authentication via Magic Link, Metamask, etc and focused on low friction onboarding and popular free to play mechanics to drive user acquisition.
